Nomor Device digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi device yang ditampilkan pada diagram skematik. Dalam desain sistem tenaga listrik, Angka Device ANSI Standard (ANSI / IEEE Standard C37.2) menunjukkan fitur apa perangkat pelindung mendukung (seperti relay atau pemutus sirkuit).
