Nomor Device digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi device yang ditampilkan pada diagram skematik. Dalam desain sistem tenaga listrik, Angka Device ANSI Standard (ANSI / IEEE Standard C37.2) menunjukkan fitur apa perangkat pelindung mendukung (seperti relay atau pemutus sirkuit). Jenis perangkat melindungi sistem listrik dan komponen dari kerusakan ketika sebuah acara yang tidak diinginkan terjadi, seperti kesalahan listrik
